CHRIS & TONY CONCHA END BROADCASTING ON 90.5FM

Popular broadcasters Chris & Tony Concha are taking a break from 90.5FM. Tony who presented the "City Lights" program has been broadcasting on 90.5 for 15 years and Chris has spent 10 years on air, her latest program being "Manila Sound By Request". Both programs were popular with our listeners and we hope to have them return to the airwaves before too long.

NEW ALBUM FOR SILVANA

Sydney vocalist/pianist Silvana is a very busy lady these days. Living in Los Angeles, she combines live appearances, TV work and her work as a psychic.  She is also busy recording a new album which she hopes to release later this year.

Lee Ritenour in Australia

Legendary guitarist Lee Ritenour visited Australia in March 2008. He  appeared in Perth, and at the Basement,
Sydney for 3 nights. He is also due to appear at Byron Bay,  Portsea and Melbourne. Lee is one of the pioneers
of smooth jazz music.  We attended the first Sydney concert and what a night it was!

The night started with an appearance by blind vocalist / guitarist Raul Midon who wowed the audience with his
singing and great guitar playing.

Lee was supported by bass player  Melvin Davis and drummer Will Kennedy who really shone. And Lee, well..
what would you expect from Captain Fingers? Lee was also joined by his long-time friend Patrice Rushen on
keyboards. She jammed with the band in a high-energy performance by all. Patrice also sang audience favourite
"Forget Me Nots". Other favourites of the crowd were "Smoke 'n' Mirrors" and "Rio Funk".

The group came back for an encore with "Night Rhythms".  These musicians were having fun and the audience
loved it. It was a memorable show for all who went.  Long live smooth jazz!!

Janet Basco wows the audience in Sydney
Janet Basco returned to Sydney's Corregidor Entertainment Centre and Restaurant
for a concert on 4th November 2007.  Janet has performed in many overseas venues including Carnegie Hall.
She is no stranger to Sydney and has travelled to Australia a number of times from the Philippines for concerts
here. This time she appeared in Perth, Sydney and the Gold Coast.  Janet has a wide repertoire of songs
including those from Broadway shows, and standards. She performed a medley of songs by Burt Bacharach,
songs from the Supremes, and Barbra Streisand.  She also performed some jazz numbers which drew strong
support from the audience. For two hours Janet wowed the audience with songs ranging from soft ballads to
scatting on "How High The Moon". For such a petite artist, Janet has a powerful voice which never waned
during those two hours. She told stories and joked with her audience who went away thrilled to have enjoyed
such a polished performance.

Bebel Gilberto at Sydney Opera House

Silky Brazilian vocalist Bebel Gilberto appeared at the famous Sydney Opera
House for one concert on Friday 5 October 2007. Bebel has appeared in New York and London and her third
album "Momento" was releasedin April 2007.  She sang a range of songs including some from "Momento" to
an enthusiastic audience.

Randy Crawford and Joe Sample in Sydney

Soulful vocalist Randy Crawford has been wowing audiences for 3 decades. She teamed up with veteran
keyboard player Joe Sample for one concert on Thursday 27 September 2007 at the Sydney Town Hall.
They played many of their hits including those from their collaboration album "Feeling Good" which has
received rave reviews. Joe was a member of the group The Cr4usaders.  In 1977 Randy Crawford
recorded that great hit "Street Life" with the group. Joe started the concert with some old and new tracks.
A highlight was "X Marks The Spot" from "The Pecan Tree". For a man aged 68 Joe played like someone
half his age. As for Randy, well she sounded as sweet as she did 30 years ago.She thrilled the audience with
many of her hits and for an encore sang "Almas". The pair received an enthusiastic standing ovation.

memorable tracks are Al's vocal version of the great George Benson hit
